The Terrible Beauty 1916 collection is inspired by the ordinary and extraordinary people and events of the Easter Rising in Dublin. In designing each piece artist Maria Parsons has imbued her collection with strength and character that reflects the bravery and vision shown at this key moment in our history.
The Terrible Beauty 1916 Collection, is comprised of three distinct series: Constance, Grace, and Maud. Each series has been named after a woman who was vital to the events of the 1916 Rising: Constance Markievicz, Grace Gifford and Maud Gonne.
About the Artist
Award winning designer Maria Parsons draws much of her inspiration from the rich texture of the urban aesthetic. From the contemporary visage of modern architecture to the monuments of once vibrant communities which echo the rhythms that were the heart of any inner city—these shapes and contours, both physical and intangible, breathe life into Maria's designs.
